The Knights of Columbus is an organization of Catholic men dedicated to service, protect, and defend the Church and local and global communities – we make a difference. We share a desire to be better husbands, fathers, sons, neighbors and role models to put charity and community first.
Lakewood Council 2643 hail from St. Clement, St. Luke and St. James, Transfiguration and other parishes.
We meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7 pm at St. Clement.
Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Fr. Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut, and a group of parishioners. Their intent? To bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled, and needy members and their families. Today, Fr. McGivney is being considered for sainthood, these are good footsteps to follow.
The Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to more than 14,000 councils and 1.8 million members throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Guam and Saipan.
